In a case that reads like a plot twist from a spy thriller, federal immigration agents have arrested an undocumented Indian national caught piloting an 18-wheeler across our highways—armed with a New York commercial driver’s license that bizarrely lists his name as “No Name Given Anmol.” The suspect, identified only as Anmol Anmol, entered the U.S. illegally in 2023 and was nabbed during a routine traffic stop on Interstate 40 in late September.

That operation netted  approx 120 undocumented individuals, with a whopping 91 of them behind the wheels of commercial rigs. Among the detainees were those with rap sheets including DUIs, human smuggling, drug trafficking, and prior illegal reentries—underscoring the high-stakes risks of unregulated trucking.

“Our highways are no place for unlicensed foreign nationals who may not grasp basic traffic rules,” declared ICE Deputy Director Madison Sheahan. “These removals make America’s roads demonstrably safer.”

The story has ignited fresh outrage amid a string of deadly crashes linked to undocumented truckers. Just last year, Harjinder Singh, another foreign national driver, faced vehicular homicide charges in Florida after a collision that killed three people; post-arrest tests revealed he had flunked an English proficiency exam essential for safe commercial operation. In California, the heartbreak hit closer to home for Marcus Coleman, whose 5-year-old daughter suffered life-altering injuries in a wreck with an undocumented 18-wheeler operator.

Scrutiny on non-citizen licensing has intensified under the Trump administration. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy recently issued stern warnings to California, Washington, and New Mexico, threatening to slash federal highway safety funds if they don’t enforce English-language mandates for CDL holders—an executive order dating back to April. Critics argue such lapses not only invite chaos but also expose a fractured immigration enforcement apparatus, where states like New York prioritize access over accountability.

As Anmol Anmol awaits deportation proceedings in ICE custody, his “nameless” license serves as a surreal symbol of systemic blind spots. DHS vows to audit partnerships and tighten borders on the blacktop, but for families scarred by the fallout, the damage is already etched in stone.
