Sapulpa continues to invest in both everyday infrastructure and quality-of-life amenities while seeing new private and tribal development activity. Recent progress includes completed street work, a new splash pad under construction, and ongoing commercial and industrial growth.
Street Improvements Across All Wards
During the 2025–2026 fiscal year the City of Sapulpa completed nearly seven miles of street resurfacing and roadway repairs across all five wards. City leaders report more than $4.5 million invested directly into local streets, separate from additional work performed under Oklahoma Department of Transportation contracts. Officials say the program prioritizes smoother, safer driving conditions and reflects a consistent commitment to maintaining the city’s road network.
Downtown also saw the reopening of Dewey Avenue earlier this year after a major underground infrastructure project that replaced aging storm drains, water lines, and other utilities. The multi-year effort, funded in part by a 2020 general obligation bond, improved accessibility and gave the historic district a refreshed appearance.
Splash Pad and Recreation Progress
Construction is underway on a long-planned splash pad at Kelly Lane Park. City officials have expressed hope that the family-friendly attraction can open later this summer or early fall. The project is part of broader efforts to expand recreational options for residents, alongside the upcoming opening of the Sapulpa Aquatic Center and continued programming at city parks and the library.
A topping-off ceremony was also held earlier this year for the new Sapulpa High School, a major component of the $279 million “Chieftain Strong” bond package approved by voters in 2023. The new campus is expected to open in 2027 and will include modern academic spaces, a performing arts center, and improved safety features.
Business and Industrial Growth
Sapulpa has seen steady commercial activity, with dozens of new businesses opening in recent years and several existing companies expanding. A new industrial park is moving forward, and the Muscogee (Creek) Nation has broken ground on a large medical facility near Highway 117 and 49th West Avenue. City leaders note that these projects are expected to bring additional jobs and support local dining and retail activity.
Housing development continues as well, with hundreds of new single-family and multi-family units in various stages of planning or construction. Officials describe the overall picture as one of measured growth supported by both public investment and private interest.
Residents can expect continued construction activity related to the splash pad, high school, and utility projects in the coming months. City leaders emphasize that the combination of street work, recreation improvements, and new development is intended to strengthen Sapulpa’s appeal as a place to live and do business while preserving its small-city character.
