OKLAHOMA CITY – Rep. Chris Banning, R-Bixby, thanked local and federal law enforcement following the conviction of a Bixby man in a federal child sexual abuse material case.
A federal jury convicted 28-year-old Aaron Chase Sanders after an investigation involving the Bixby, Glenpool and Tulsa police departments and Homeland Security Investigations. Authorities reported finding more than 220 images and videos of child sexual abuse material during the investigation.
“This was a deeply disturbing case, and I am thankful the work of these officers and investigators resulted in a conviction,” Banning said. “Cases involving the exploitation of children are especially difficult, and the men and women who investigate them are confronted with things most of us will thankfully never have to see.
“I especially want to thank the Bixby, Glenpool and Tulsa police departments, along with Homeland Security Investigations, for their diligence and coordination. Their willingness to do this difficult work helps protect children and makes our communities safer.”
Sanders was convicted on one count of possession of child pornography following a three-day federal trial. He remains in custody, and sentencing will be scheduled at a later date.
